The s12s2 translator migrates Hewlett-Packard HP3070 Series I test fixtures
and software to the Hewlett-Packard HP3070 Series II test system. The
s12s2 software translates Hewlett-Packard HP3070 Series I wirelists
to HP3070 Series II wirelists, then compiles all source files to
create valid object files. The s12s2 hardware adapter works in conjunction
with the s12s2 software to allow Hewlett-Packard HP3070 Series I test fixtures
to work with Hewlett-Packard HP3070 Series II test systems.
Overview
The software translator works in conjunction with a hardware adapter to allow for the use of
Series I test fixtures and software on HP3070 Series II machines.
The software performs the following actions:
- Translates the Series I wirelist to a Series II wirelist.
- Compiles the created Series II wirelist.
- Compiles all test sequences found in the wirelist file.
It is the responsibility of the user to do the following:
- Create a new config file before the start of the translation. This config file must match the
configuration of the Series II test system.
- Compile the newly created config file before the start of the translation.
- Modify all gprelay statements contained in the file 'testplan', and all analog and digital source
files.
- Review the s12s2 summary file (summary.s12s2) for warnings and errors after the program
translation.
- Modify the wirelist for any control card use in modules that no longer exist in the new
configuration.
Input Files
- wirelist - The Hewlett-Packard HP3070 Series I wirelist file (ASCII). This file is copied to
filename 'wirelist.s1' before the start of the translation.
- source files - ASCII copies of all test sequences which have entries in the wirelist file.
(analog/*, digital/*, mixed/*, shorts, pins, etc).
Output Files
- wirelist.s1 - The original Hewlett-Packard HP3070 series I wirelist
file. This file is a copy of the original wirelist file input to the
translator.
- wirelist - New Hewlett-Packard HP3070 Series II wirelist file. This
file is the translated Hewlett-Packard HP3070 Series I wirelist. (This
file is also copied to filename 'wirelist.s2' by the translation software
at the end of the translation).
- wirelist.s2 - A copy of the output file 'wirelist'. The translated
wirelist file named 'wirelist' is copied to this filename after the
translation is completed.
- object files - Object (.o) copies of all test sequences which have
entries in the wirelist file. (analog/*, digital/*, mixed/*, shorts,
pins, etc).
- summary.s12s2 - A file containing summary and trace data of the
translation process.
Software Installation
The software is provided on a Hewlett-Packard HP3070 DAT tape. The
tape is in Test Consultant Archive format (tar).
To load the software:
- Place the tape in the DAT tape drive.
- Initiate a session of Test Consultant.
- Create a directory on the Hewlett-Packard HP3070 named '/hp3070/boards/s12s2'.
- Restore the tape using Test Consultant to the directory '/hp3070/boards/s12s2'.
- Copy the contents of the directory '/hp3070/boards/s12s2' to '/usr/local/bin'.
This is a 'pathed' directory on most systems. If this directory is not in your unix
PATH variable, see your system administrator to place the s12s2 files in a directory
pathed on your system.
- Copy the file 'S12s2' (the first character, 'S', is capitalized) to your HOME
directory. The HOME directory is defined as that directory where the user is
initially placed at the time of system log on.
Software Operation
To execute the software:
- msi to the directory where the translation is to be performed.
msi '/hp3070/boards/board1'
- Create an ASCII copy of the 'wirelist.o' file named 'wirelist'.
Select one of the three following options:
- If the file 'wirelist' does not exist.
- list object 'wirelist.o' to 'wirelist'
- If the file 'wirelist' does exists
- list object 'wirelist.o' over 'wirelist'
- If this is not the first run of the 's12s2' software in this directory:
copy the file 'wirelist.s1' to 'wirelist'. This can be done using the following unix or BT-
BASIC commands:
- cp wirelist.s1 wirelist (unix)
- copy 'wirelist.s1' over 'wirelist'(BT-BASIC)
- From a unix window, execute the translator by typing 's12s2'
- Select Run from the top level File menu.
- Review the file 'summary.s12s2' when the translation is finished.
Notes
The translator does not modify any control or ASRU card brc's. If control
cards are wired in the old configuration (such as clock receive signals,
etc.), and the new configuration does not contain a control card in the
old module, the user must rewire or add a wire to the appropriate brc
utilizing a control or ASRU card contained in the new configuration. The
user is also responsible for all 'wirelist' modifications associated with
control card or ASRU wiring which requires modification.
The translator does NOT modify the 'fixture' or 'fixture.o' files.
The translator does NOT modify any brc's associated with gprelays
outside of the file 'wirelist'. Gprelay brc modifications in the
'testplan' file, or any analog or digital source files, must be
modified by the user either prior to, or after the translation.
If the translator is to be run multiple times in the same directory,
the file 'wirelist.s1' must be renamed to 'wirelist' before the start
of the translation.
The user must create an ASCII copy of the file 'wirelist.o' named
'wirelist' before the start of the translation.
